Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Prop

Part two of a unique, two-part training facility.

Canadian Natural Resources (previously Shell Oil) has a large airport north of Fort McMurray that serves many of the businesses and camps nearby. Assistant Fire Chief, Brad Collins, was concerned with the costs and loss of time that resulted from sending firefighters long distances for training.

The aircraft simulator was created to provide realistic training scenarios to equip the department and alleviate the previous logistics burdens they were facing. This was a part two of a plan that also included a comprehensive, four-story training building. Fire Training Solutions supplied concept drawings in 2016 and the build was completed by Spring 2017.

Phase two of this structure includes:

  • One 40 ft. container with an added cockpit simulator
  • Serrated grating flooring
  • Steel pilot and co-pilot chairs
  • Passenger chairs in midsection
  • Two doors, front and rear
  • LP/Propane
  • Props: cockpit, engine, and overhead passenger compartments
